Mancount

ManCount surveyed Vancouver in 2008 to measure rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections affecting gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (OMSM).

The Survey Team recruited 1,139 participants from bars, nightclubs, pubs, and cafes to complete a questionnaire & provide a finger-prick blood sample.

Now the stats are in.

ManCount blood samples showed 18.1% of participants had an HIV infection and 2.5% were unaware of being HIV positive.
The survey estimates that 1 in 5 men in Vancouver's gay scene are HIV positive and 1 in 40 may be unaware they are HIV positive.
